Margaret Maestas

Margaret grew up in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, and has been moving and traveling since high school.  She holds dual undergraduate degrees in Finance and Economics and a graduate degree in Public Administration. 

After graduating college, she went to work for General Electric Corporation where she honed her finance and marketing skills.  Looking for more adventure, Margaret later became a federal agent for the Department of Defense, Defense Criminal Investigative Service.  While attending basic training at the FLETC, Glynco, GA, Margaret dreamed of, one day, moving to Saint Simons Island. 

She has moved many times and transitioned to many new areas over the years, but her last stop in her 25+ year law enforcement career was back at FLETC.  She has lived in the Golden Isles since 2008 and has fallen in love with the people and the community.

Margaret’s diverse experiences span from leadership, management, law enforcement, financial analysis, sales and marketing, to training development and delivery, as well as land surveying and design.  Margaret’s strengths are leveraging existing networks, project management and helping others achieve their goals and proficiencies.  She is a problem-solver and believes listening and relating are keys to success.

Margaret has a passion for traveling and learning new cultures.  When not on an assignment, Margaret can be found building houses with Habitat for Humanity, hiking, visiting MLB stadiums, working out, mentoring young girls and hosting wine tastings.
